Q:How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A: Just over a year now.
Q: Why did you start CrossFit and originally join Shear Force?
A: I was having a hard time sticking to a fitness routine by myself. Needed to feel like I was being held accountable. My sister had gotten in to Crossfit a few years ago and I had been to a couple of classes with her. Because of my athletic background, I enjoy the competitive nature, whether I’m competing against myself or someone else in the class.
Q: What are your long term goals?
A: Stay consistent and continue to acquire new movements.
Q: Biggest accomplishments since joining Shear Force.
A: Recently been working on linking C2B pull-ups and handstand push-ups more consistently. Its still a work in progress.
Q: What’s one hidden talent you have or interesting fact about you?
A: First and only women’s soccer player to have my jersey retired at Armstrong. Now that the merger between GSU/Armstrong has occurred and athletics have ceased to exist the 5’x3’ sign that was hanging at the field is now hanging in my garage.
Q: Favorite movie and why?
A: Sports movie- Miracle- true underdog story about a team that was supposed to have no chance but believed in themselves when no one else did. I also really like Pitch Perfect- its just one of those movies that makes me laugh no matter how many times I’ve seen it. Seems like every time I watch I hear a new joke I’ve never heard before. I also find myself quoting it pretty frequently.
Q: Favorite joke?
A: How do you wake Lady Gaga up? Poke her face (Poker Face)
Q: What’s one item on your bucket list?
A: Attend a North Carolina vs. Duke basketball game. Ideally would like to see it at Cameron Indoor but since I’m a Carolina fan I don't see that happening so I guess seeing one at the Dean Dome would do.
Q: If you could have 1 super power what would it be? Why?
A: I wish I could fly. It would just be so much quicker to get everywhere.
Q: Favorite cheat meal?
A: I have had a terrible sweet tooth lately. Ice cream, cookies, brownies.
Q: Where is your favorite travel destination?
A: Anywhere in the Mountains. I’ll take mountains over beach any day
Q: How does CrossFit translate to other activities you participate in?
A: Just being fit in general helps me daily with my job as a physical therapist, having to continuously lift patients. But also has helped me become mentally stronger which helped me during the training for my half marathon in the fall.
Q: If you won the lottery what would you spend the money on and why?
A: First I would pay off my house (and I guess my parents’/sister’s) then I really don't know. Vacation house somewhere but I don't know where.
Q: What is something about you that might surprise most people?
A: Played the piano, clarinet, and bass clarinet when I was growing up. Haven't played any of them in a while but I like to believe that I still can.
